Senior Camogs Championship Finalists 2012
Tullysaran U 12 Camogs Win Div. 1 League 2012
Congratulations to Tullysaran’s U 12 camogs who have won the Division 1 League Final. The girls had a hard earned victory on Monday evening (6th August) against a very strong Keady team. The final was a highly competitive and exciting camogie match and the opposing teams were evenly matched which is reflected in the final score of Tullysaran 2 – 2 Keady 2 – 1. The spectators were presented with a thrilling display of sporting talent demonstrated on the field of play by highly skilled camogs on both teams but it was particularly nail biting stuff for our supporters as Tullysaran came back into the game after being down 4 points with 10 minutes to go.
Sponsored Walk - Excellent Club Fundraiser
Tullysaran U 12, 10, 8 and 6 camogie teams held a sponsored walk on Sunday 20th May 2012 and raised almost £800 in the process. The large crowd of youngsters, parents, grandparents and mentors and even some dogs walked from Tullysaran chapel gates to Hegarty’s shop, Blackwatertown which is a sizeable distance of 2.7 miles particularly for children as young as 4 or 5 years old. With the under 6 camogs leading the way, all these young camogs cheerfully completed the long walk to Hegarty’s Shop and although it was not a race, it was mainly the U 12 camogs who finished first with the U 6 girls eventually finishing the route.

The purpose of BIG Lottery’s Community Wildlife programme was to bring local people together to discover, enjoy and protect the wildlife in their local area. This programme funded projects that improved rural or urban environments for people to enjoy and also projects that got people more active and healthier. With the help of £10,000 from the BIG Lottery and sponsorship from Mark Curran of Commercial Motor Products, O’Connell’s GAC Tullysaran have done just that.
